Yami Gautam comments on films choosing OTT release over theaters.

Yami Gautam, an actress known for her impressive roles in films like Vicky Donor, Kaabil, Uri: The Surgical Strike, Bala, and A Thursday, is set to wow her fans once again with her upcoming film Lost. The thriller film, directed by Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury, will be released exclusively on ZEE5 on February 16, 2023. In an exclusive interview with the media, Yami Gautam shared her thoughts on the recent trend of films opting for digital releases rather than theatrical releases.

During the interview, Yami Gautam was asked if she was excited about a theatrical release after having several back-to-back OTT releases in recent years. To this, the actress stated that while she cannot comment on the matter until she turns into a producer herself, theatres will always be her first love. Yami went on to say that watching a good film in a theatre is a completely different experience, and it is the reason why films were meant to be in theatres. However, she also acknowledged that the way films have performed in theatres recently has not been very encouraging, which may be why producers are opting for digital releases.

Yami Gautam also shared her thoughts on the current state of the film industry and the importance of improving the quality of films to attract audiences. She stated that the release of a film is entirely the producer’s call, and if they feel they are getting a better price or a pre-sale with a certain platform, they will go ahead with it. However, Yami also expressed her hope for progress in the industry, saying that if the right efforts are made in the right direction, there will be better stories, better roles, and better scripts for audiences to enjoy.

Yami Gautam also spoke about the importance of theatres and the unique experience they provide to moviegoers. She emphasized that theatres exist for audiences to be mesmerized by what they are seeing on the screen while surrounded by darkness. She also expressed her respect for producers, stating that it is a very stressful job and requires a lot of effort to do things right, differently, and correctly.

In conclusion, Yami Gautam shared her love for acting and her respect for producers while acknowledging the changes happening in the film industry. She expressed her hope for progress and improvement in the quality of films to attract audiences back to theatres. As the saying goes, “Rome wasn’t built in a day,” and it takes time to bring about change. However, with the right efforts and a positive attitude, the film industry can improve and provide audiences with better films worth their time and money
