Actors are more easily recognisable through social media, according to Karisma Kapoor: “We had to work hard to stand out

Karisma Kapoor, a veteran Bollywood actor, has recently made her return to acting after a three-year hiatus with her second web series. The series is a dark drama, in which she portrays the role of a Kolkata police officer and recovering alcoholic named Rita Brown. The actor began her career at the age of 17 in 1991 with the hit film Prem Qaidi, and went on to star in numerous other successful projects such as Sapne Sajan Ke, Jigar, Raja Babu, Andaz, Coolie No. 1, and Hero No. 1.

In a recent interview, the actor spoke about the challenges she faced in the industry during the 1990s, a time when social media was non-existent, and actors had to work incredibly hard to establish their careers and get noticed. She shared that every movie she worked on contributed to her growth as an actor, regardless of its box office performance. “We had to slog it out to get noticed. Every movie, be it a hit, a blockbuster, a flop, or meaningful cinema, everything contributed to my career,” she said.

Karisma, who has won several acting awards, including the Filmfare and National Film Awards, cannot choose a favorite role of hers as she considers each film to be a stepping stone in her career. She said, “I enjoyed doing all my David Ji movies as much as I enjoyed working with Yash Ji and Shyam Ji. It was a different time, and I would say each movie was special.”

Despite the challenges of the industry at the time, Karisma credits her family’s acting background for her success. Her parents, Randhir Kapoor and Babita Kapoor, are both actors, and her younger sister, Kareena Kapoor, is also a prominent Bollywood actor. The Kapoor sisters are quite active on social media, often sharing glimpses into their daily lives and family gatherings with their fans.

Karisma’s return to acting after a hiatus is a testament to her passion for the craft. It is not easy to make a comeback in the industry, but Karisma is determined to continue entertaining her fans with her powerful performances.

Overall, Karisma’s journey in the film industry is a reminder that success is not achieved overnight, and that hard work, perseverance, and passion are necessary ingredients for achieving one’s goals. It is important to appreciate every step of the journey and learn from each experience, whether it is a success or a failure. As the saying goes, “Rome wasn’t built in a day.”
